Discover Double Oak TX Homes For Sale
an educational real estate guide
When you're considering buying real estate, building a new construction home or an existing home for sale in the small town of Double Oak Texas, it's a good idea to get a feel for the local culture and way things run. This letter from the Double Oak TX Mayor gives a good snapshot of the town.
Double Oak Texas Major Message
With six full months as your Mayor, I am relieved to tell you the Town of Double Oak TX responsibilities only require half-days: that is, from 8 AM to 8 PM. With our exceedingly competent, helpful Staff, experienced officials, friends and neighbors and my learning curve, I am pleased to think I am delivering responses to the many issues, inquiries, comments and calls I receive daily more efficiently than ever. Your input is essential to our well-being as a town, so please do keep in touch.
If you didn’t make it to the Super Scary Second Annual Haunted House, on All Hallows’ Eve, hosted by the Ghouls and Goblins of the Double Oak Police Department and Double Oak Women’s Club, you missed a hair-raising time! Fortunately, the children weren’t scared a bit by the witches, monsters, Batman, pirates, et als, and they patiently (yes…patiently!) stood in line, to have the bejeebers scared out of them. All told, there were hundreds of neighbors and neighborhood children creatively costumed, canvassing for candy, enjoying the bounce houses, filling their tummies with food and drinks and just plain having fun. My thanks to all the adults who spent DAYS getting ready for a few hours of fun and tons of sugary treats!
Double Oak TX has two new real estate home subdivisions under construction that you have undoubtedly noticed: Double Oaks new home subdivision Camryn Downs, at the corner of Chinn Chapel and Waketon. The road and drainage areas are in and the surrounding brick wall is almost complete. Real estate and new home construction: Double Oaks TX West Oaks subdivision at the corner of Simmons and Kings, is in earlier stages of real estate development and your town of Double Oak Council and Staff are working through all aspects of that residential new home construction real estate development.
An Ad Hoc Public Safety Committee is now actively working on to identify areas of concern and make recommendations to the Double Oak Police Department based upon your requests. With the advent of the recent Neighborhood Traffic Management Plan, many of your concerns over drivers consistently exceeding town speed limits and cyclists failing to obey traffic signs will be actively addressed but the Committee is tasked with reviewing all variety of public safety issues.
Your Double Oak Town Council Members have themselves been tasked with driving over all the roads in town, to rate them, as is our annual charge. Once they have submitted their priority lists, the issue of street improvements (and the dollars available) will be on our agenda for consideration and action at an upcoming Council meeting. Hand-in-hand with that discussion will be the Town Engineer’s presentation of a comprehensive drainage improvement plan for Double Oak, promised for the final Council meeting in November or first in December, depending on the Council meeting schedule during the holidays. We hope you will be in attendance, to give us your opinions of needs, costs and possible solutions.
Two new Double Oak Texas Christmas traditions that we hope will set the tone for an uplifting, family oriented holiday season for everyone are our First Annual Town of Double Oak Christmas Tree Lighting and our All-Day-Children’s-Movie-Day.
The Town of Double Oak Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony will be held on Monday, November 26th, 6:45 PM, outside at our Double Oak Town Square and everyone is invited!
The brilliant idea for the planting of an evergreen on the Double Oak Town Square was that of our own Town Secretary’s, Ms. Charlotte Allen’s! Charlotte thought a living tree might longer serve Double Oak, year-round and from year-to-year, than some of our ‘standard’ town functions during the holidays, and she was right! Wait ‘til you see our new tree dressed in bright white lights during the holidays!
We thank everyone who has been a part of making this ‘dream’ possible and hope that our Double Oak winter celebration, with twinkling lights, holiday spirit, hot (or iced) cocoa and peppermints, and will bring us together as the DOVFD Fourth of July event always does.
Especially for children, ages six and older, Saturday December 1st offers all-day movie fun. From 10 AM to 4 PM. We will be showing one holiday movie after another, starting with A Charlie Brown Christmas, followed by Frosty, then Home Alone, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and, finally, The Santa Clause. The price of admission is 25¢ and a bean bag chair. Movies will be shown in the Double Oak TX Town Council Chambers and snacks will be served. We hope your children will be able to join us for some old-fashioned fun!
On behalf of my family and the family at Double Oak Texas Town Hall, we wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving. Be safe in your travels and we’ll look forward to seeing you soon!
