SUBJECT:                                         The Colony TX Spring Clean-Up Trash and Recycling Event for Residents

The City of The Colony and Allied Waste Services are pleased to announce the 2008 City Wide Spring Clean-Up, Saturday, April 12, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (noon). Residents of The Colony TX may bring trash and refuse, such as large tree limbs, furniture, appliances, lumber, remodeling debris, fencing materials and scrap metal. The above list is not meant to be all-inclusive.

In addition to trash and refuse, The Colony TX will also be collecting and recycling the following items: tires, batteries of all types, electronics including: computer CPUs, monitors, printers and related computer parts and supplies, DVD players, CD players, and copiers.

The City of Colony TX will also be offering the following free services this year at the City Wide Spring Clean-Up: Removal of Freon from any appliance that contains Freon and shredding service for residents that have confidential documents that need to be destroyed. Freon removal and shredding will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

The 2008 City Wide Spring Clean-Up will be located at the Hawaiian Falls parking lot off of Paige Road. Entry to the Spring Clean-Up will be off of Memorial Drive using the East entrance to Hawaiian Falls. There will be NO entry to the Spring Clean-Up off of Paige Road. Please follow the signs and direction of city staff to expedite your unloading. No one will be allowed into the line after 12:00 p.m. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed in the unloading area. All residents will be required to show proof of residency by presenting their water bill and photo I.D.

The Colony will not accept liquids or chemicals of any kind. This includes paints and household hazardous waste. Please bring these items to our new Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Center located at 5576 N. Colony by Fire Station # 2, call 972-624-3132 for specific hours of operation or for an appointment. Box vans, trailers over 20 feet and/or contractors will not be allowed into the unloading area. The 2008 City Wide Spring Clean-Up is for The Colony residents only.
