Mark's Green Moving Tips
Moving is stressful but doing your part to help the environment will make you feel better.
Recycling and Reusing Moving Boxes Makes Green Cents
The idea to publish this Green Moving Guide hit me after I met with Diana Meyers, the manager of Best Price Boxes, 7561 Main Street, The Colony TX 75056.
Recycling and Reusing Moving Boxes saves trees, reduces landfills and saves you money.
Best Price Boxes in The Colony TX is a no frills Moving Supplies Store that Buys and Sells New and "Gently Used" Moving Boxes. Diana explained that moving boxes beyond "reuse" are recycled. Call Diana at 214-469-2410 and save some green. Limited Time Offer: Tell Diana "I would like the Mark Hitz Realtor Discount" and save on larger purchases. Visit the Best Price Boxes Website for general pricing and multiple DFW location information.
Recycling and Reusing Yard / Household Chemicals, Paints, Gasoline, Propane
Your mover will not and you should not move chemicals, paints, gasoline and bbq propane tanks. The Murphy's law stories are abundant so just decide not to move them.
Here are some environmentally friendly options:
Make an agreement with the new home owner that you can leave paint and useful chemicals (insecticides, cleaning products).
Sell them at a garage or moving sale. I once sold unopened quarts of motor oil, a half full jug of anti-freeze and partial cans of stain at a garage sale. People will buy most anything if the price is right. See our guide to successful Moving and Garage Sales
Give them away to a neighbor. Giving makes you feel good.
Lastly, if you have chemicals you need to dispose of, check with the city to see where you can take them. Cities have a safe process to dispose of hazardous waste.
Making Charitable Donations
Reusing Items is environmentally sound. Arrange for CCA or another charity to come by after a moving sale to take everything that didn’t sell. See Mark's guide on donating to charity.

If You Already Have A Real Estate Agent
If you have already entered into a Written client | real estate sales agent Contractual Agreement with a Texas licensed real estate agent or Texas Realtor® this is not a solicitation for your business. It is unethical for us to work with clients of other Texas real estate agents and we adhere to this Realtor® code of ethics. We strongly encourage you to work with your current real estate agent, use their website guides, research and advisory abilities. Always contact them with any questions or "homes for sale" information you desire in your home buying or selling process instead of us, because using more than one Texas real estate agent will end up causing you unnecessary stress in one of the most important decisions you will make.
